Shannon will have services to Alicante, Malaga, Palma, Reus, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Fuerteventura – on services operated by scheduled carriers Aer Lingus and Ryanair, with Falcon Holidays and Sunway also operating charter flights. Included in the seven are two new services – Ryanair on Fuerteventura and Aer Lingus with its new Malaga service, contributing to the availability of 880 flights and 156,000 seats between Shannon and Spain. This is an increase of over 200 extras flights and 36,000 additional seats during the peak summer season when compared to last year.

Ryanair will fly to six destinations – Malaga, Palma, Alicante, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Tenerife – with Aer Lingus operating on Malaga; Falcon Holidays with charter services to Palma, Reus and Lanzarote; and Sunway with its Lanzarote charter.

Andrew Murphy, Chief Commercial Officer at Shannon Airport, added: “Spain will be Shannon and Ireland’s most popular country for sun holidays in 2014 and, indeed, is every year. It is one of the most popular destinations from Shannon and for good reason as it has great sun, outstanding accommodation options, superb tourism infrastructure and offers real value.

“2013 was a record year for Spanish tourism with over 60 million international tourists holidaying there, which is a strong reflection of the quality of the tourism package on offer there.  Shannon grew its services last year and the 38% increase in capacity this year continues that upward trend, which is great news for sun holiday seekers across this region and further evidence of growth at the airport.”
