Aer Lingus Announces Two New Cork Routes, Unveils Summer 2019 Schedule

Aer Lingus announced its summer 2019 schedule at Cork Airport on Friday 26th October 2018, unveiling two new routes from Cork to Dubrovnik and Nice, coinciding with the inaugural Aer Lingus flight from Cork to Lisbon, which will be all-year-round.

Across the year, Aer Lingus operates flights from Cork Airport to 23 destinations. Next summer, the airline will increase capacity from Cork to 1,063,000 seats, up 4% on summer 2018.

Greg Kaldahl, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, Aer Lingus, said: “Aer Lingus is excited to announce two brand new routes to Dubrovnik and Nice from Cork in 2019, as well as additional seat capacity and the extension of the recently-added Cork-Lisbon route to all-year-round. We have a proven track record of servicing a broad array of European destinations from Cork and we are delighted to announce our new Cork summer schedule.

“Each new Aer Lingus route opens up new travel opportunities for the people of Cork for leisure and business, as well as providing huge inbound tourism opportunities for visitors from the South of France, Croatia and Portugal. We remain committed to enhancing our offering from Cork Airport in the coming years.”

Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director, Cork Airport, said: “Aer Lingus is our longest serving and biggest customer at Cork Airport. We are delighted with this expansion and the addition of two new scheduled routes for summer 2019. We predict that Nice and Dubrovnik will prove very popular with passengers across the South of Ireland, combining the easy passenger experience at Cork Airport with low-cost car parking and the attractiveness of the outbound destinations.

“We are working extremely hard with our airline partners to further grow and expand choice from Cork Airport and this announcement brings to seven the number of new destinations announced in as many weeks for next summer. We are forecasting overall passenger growth of 7% in 2019, which, despite Brexit, will demonstrate a strong performance once again next year.”

The Aer Lingus Cork-Dubrovnik service commences on 4th May 2019 and will be operated by A320 aircraft every Tuesday and Saturday. The Cork-Nice service commences on 1st May 2019 and will be operated by A320 aircraft every Wednesday and Sunday.
