Ireland’s reputation for digital innovation received a further boost this week at the international Frontier Awards in Cannes. Aer Rianta International’s e-commerce website, www.theloop.ie, triumphed in the Best Digital Innovation category which, according to the Frontier judges, “recognises indisputable innovation with demonstrable sales results”.

The Loop is the retail arm of ARI and the Frontier Awards, which date back to 1985, reward standards of excellence in travel retail and are recognised as the Oscars of the travel retail industry.

Nicola Wells, ARI’s Global Director of Marketing, said: “Given the growth of our online presence coupled with our success at the Frontier Awards, ARI can justifiably claim to be at the forefront of digital innovation in the travel retail sector.

“This award is an incredible endorsement of our concerted efforts to drive customer engagement on TheLoop.ie and grow the popularity of our Click and Collect model. This free service, which allows our customers to shop online and collect their purchases on their return to the airport, has really enhanced the end-to-end customer shopping experience while growing the online sales channel for us.

“Our objective is to position The Loop as the destination for great value shopping and leading brands and TheLoop.ie offers passengers the option to browse online and shop from the comfort of their own homes before they fly.”

The Frontier Awards marked the very first gathering of the duty-free community in the 1980s and the winners are chosen by a panel of leading industry executives.
