Max Campos, Head of Sales and Marketing UK & Ireland for the airline, has written to agents to say: “We regret to inform you that our UK office will close down on 31/8/12 after more than 20 years at our present location and nearly 40 years in the country. Aerolineas Argentinas has been off-line in the UK for several years now and hard economics make it impossible to justify the existence of our branch any longer.

“However we are pleased to report that Flight Directors has been appointed as our General Sales Agent for UK and Ireland, and their staff will deal with Aerolineas’ flight information, bookings, group sales, etc.

“Please contact Flight Directors from 3/9/12 at the following numbers and email:

UK:  0871 644 4453

International: +44 1293 874 971

“Vikki Joyce is Head of Sales at Flight Directors and will be happy to assist you in any query that you may have.

“This has been an amazing journey for both the airline and its UK based staff, many of which have dedicated their professional lifetime to serve passengers and agents.

“We take this opportunity to thank you for your valuable support and understanding, in both the good and bad times, and we hope we can meet again in the near future.”

Asked about his own plans, Max told Irish Travel Trade News: “I am planning to stay in the UK and will be working in the airline industry. I will tell you more in the next few weeks!”
