BA / Bangkok Airways Sign Codeshare Agreement

British Airways has signed a new codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways, which will allow the airline to offer flights to Phuket, Koh Samui and Chiang Mai via Bangkok. BA will also operate a codeshare with Bangkok Airways from Singapore to Koh Samui.

British Airways flies daily to Bangkok and twice daily to Singapore. The Bangkok service will be moving from Heathrow Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 from October.

Bangkok Airways was originally founded as an air taxi service in the 1960s and has now grown to serve a network of 20 destinations with a fleet of 22 aircraft.

Steve Ronald, British Airways Head of Alliances, said: “The beautiful beaches of Thailand will be more accessible to European tourists now that we have teamed up with Bangkok Airways. “The move of our Bangkok service to Heathrow’s Terminal 5 will also serve to streamline connections between Europe and the Far East.”

Peter Wiesner, Bangkok Airways’ Senior Vice President Network Management, said: “This new partnership will offer smooth transit for passengers travelling from long-haul routes with British Airways to Bangkok and Singapore for their onward journey to Thailand’s key destinations, namely Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai.

“We believe this partnership will offer a unique advantage for British Airways’ customers who will enjoy our unparalleled services that include free lounge access, in-flight meals and more. I am confident that this will also strengthen Bangkok Airways’ extensive codeshare scheme as well as boosting tourism in Thailand and Asia.”
