British Airways’ home at London Heathrow, T5, has been voted the world’s best terminal in the prestigious World Airport Awards.
The independent survey, which was based on 12.1 million questionnaires completed by 108 nationalities, also awarded Iberia, British Airways’ sister airline, the number three spot for its Terminal 4 at Madrid Barajas Airport.
British Airways offers up to seven daily flights from Dublin Airport to London Heathrow, and Irish passengers who choose to connect on to the airline’s extensive global network from Heathrow can enjoy the full benefits of the award-winning T5.
Recently celebrating its fifth birthday, T5 has looked after around 125 million passengers since it opened on 27th March 2008.
Commenting on the accolade, Simon Daly, British Airways’ Manager for Ireland, said: “We are delighted that our main home, T5, has been acknowledged as one of the world’s leading passenger terminals.
“The state of the art environment allows our Irish passengers making global flight connections from T5 the opportunity to receive a top-class experience before they have even boarded their aircraft!”
Heathrow was also announced as number ten in the World’s Best Airports as well as winning the Best Airport Shopping Award for the unrivalled retail outlets, including Harrods and restaurants such as Caviar House & Prunier.
