CAR Announces Travel Trade Licensing Round

The Commission for Aviation Regulation has announced the opening of the spring licensing round for travel agents on Tuesday 14th January 2014. Applicants whose licenses require renewal from 1st May are invited to make prompt applications in order to avoid levies and to ensure that they can obtain bond (guarantee) documents in good time to secure a licence. CAR Logo

A completed renewal application submitted by the deadline of 23.59 on 12th February 2014 will attract the standard application fee of €300. Applications received on or after 13th February 2014 but before 23.59 on 28th February 2014 will attract a levy of €2,023 in respect of each application. Applications received on or after 1st March will attract a levy of €4,046 in respect of each application.

Key Dates

14 January 2014: Opening of on-line licensing facility

12 February 2014: Deadline for receipt of completed licence application at standard fee

14 March 2014: Date CAR aims to issue decision-in-principle letters for applications made by 12 February 2014

14 April 2014: Deadline for receipt by CAR of applicant’s bond for licence to be granted by 1 May 2014
