Having seen increased demand for cycling tours, Explore! of Farnborough in Hampshire has recently re-launched its dedicated cycling brochure, with something for all abilities.
Stella Blackwell told ITTN: “Over the past year Explore has received increased demand for cycling holidays. With Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, also announcing plans for a two-day festival of cycling in 2013, it seems that cycling is now more popular than ever. Cycling holidays offer the ideal break for people looking to combine something active with getting beyond the beaten track.
For keen cyclists, Explore’s new eight-day Pyrenees Cycle Traverse tour discovers the foothills and ancient walled towns of the mountains as it journeys from Barcelona to the French coast. Graded moderate to strenuous, the tour runs in June and September 2012. Costing from €950 per person, it includes seven nights’ accommodation on a B&B basis, hybrid bike, transport and the services of a tour leader and driver (flights are not included).
For something less physically challenging, Explore’s new nine-day Cycle Iceland tour explores some of Iceland’s most remote mountain tracks. Riding across black deserts, green volcanoes and white glaciers, the tour journeys from Iceland’s wild centre to its south coast. Camping at remote mountain lakes along the way, this unique trip also offers the chance to relax in natural hot springs and take in some stunning sights. The tour, rated moderate, departs in July and August 2012. Costing from €1,780 per person, the tour includes five nights’ camping and three nights’ hotel accommodation on a B&B basis, six other meals, hybrid bikes, transport, and the services of a tour leader and driver.
