DAA Welcomes Ryanair Expansion At Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport Authority has welcomed today’s announcement by Ryanair that it will open nine new routes and increase frequencies on eight existing routes at Dublin Airport from April 2014. Dublin Airport Terminal 1

This is the third consecutive year of traffic growth at Dublin Airport and the 5% increase in passengers to date places Dublin as the third fastest-growing airport in Europe in 2013. Today’s Ryanair announcement establishes a significant platform from which to build on this momentum. “Ryanair is an important customer for DAA,” said Kevin Toland, DAA Chief Executive. “We are very pleased the airline has responded to the Government’s decision in relation to the Air Travel Tax, and to the attractive suite of incentives that Dublin Airport offers to all growing airlines, by accelerating their own growth at the airport.

“We are very aware of the importance of Dublin Airport as an engine of growth for tourism and for the Irish economy generally and we are particularly pleased that recent growth has been manifest across all categories of traffic and delivered by a broad range of carriers.

“This reflects renewed activity in the Irish economy and those of our key trading partners. We also believe it reflects the competitive pricing and incentive schemes we offer airline customers, and our focus on customer service for passengers.”

New Ryanair routes from Dublin Airport commencing in April 2014 include Almeria, Bari, Basel, Bucharest, Chania (Crete), Comiso (Sicily), Lisbon, Marrakesh and Prague. The airline will increase frequencies on its existing services to Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Madrid, Manchester and Nice.
