After its success with Facebook fanpages in Germany (191,000 likes), Italy (7,000) and France (1,000), Deutsche Bahn has launched an English language Facebook fansite for the UK, Ireland and overseas. The company has also linked up with the German National Tourist Office in London to launch a smartphone app for Christmas markets.
On www.facebook.com/DBUKandMore customers will get information about passenger services to and in Germany, special offers and how or where to book tickets. A dedicated UK-based team will answer enquiries on the post board. For December an advent calendar with daily competitions is planned.
“With our English Facebook fansite we open another channel to get in contact with customers and rail fans in English speaking markets”, said Stefan Heulle, Marketing Manager. “The site will be used and promote rail travel to and in Germany.”
Smartphone App for Christmas Markets
Information about 22 Christmas markets from Berlin to Bavaria, which also includes information of how to get there by Deutsche Bahn, have been put into one free smartphone app: The Christmas Markets APP available for free at the Apple Appstore and Android Google Player.
