The Dubai Mall became the world’s most-visited shopping and leisure destination in 2011, welcoming more than 54 million visitors, 15% up on 2010. Retail sales were about 35% up.
Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties PJSC, said: “This underlines Dubai’s premier position regionally and internationally and is a strong testament to the growing appeal of Dubai as a preferred tourism destination, and a compelling indicator of the robust performance of the city’s retail sector led by this trophy asset of Emaar.”
