From Taiwan to Dublin and On to 24 Countries

Two young men from Taiwan are planning the trip of a lifetime and it all began when they travelled to Ireland as part of the Ireland-Taiwan Working Holiday programme, a scheme introduced last year. Lin Bing-Yi and Wang Wei-Dong are planning to travel around Europe by motorcycle, visiting 24 countries and stopping in 44 cities before arriving back in Dublin.

They will set off from the Spire in O’Connell Street in Dublin this Sunday, 21st July, at 2.00pm. Present will be the Representative of Taiwan in Ireland, Harry Tseng, who will joined by TDs and Dublin City Councillors.

Speaking about the project, Representative Harry Tseng of the Taipei Representative Office congratulated the two young men on their ambition and heart. He noted the role that participation on the Working Holiday Programme had played and stated that he hoped their courage and energy would encourage more young Taiwanese people to follow in their footsteps. He also expressed his hope that it would encourage young Irish people to go and explore Asia through Taiwan where they would learn so much. He stressed that this type of exchange would be to the great benefit of both Ireland and Taiwan and would only further enhance cultural ties and substantive links between the two countries.
