“I Re-booked a Cancelled Flight While My Clients Slept” – Martina Hayden

“I Re-booked a Cancelled Flight While My Clients Slept” – Martina Hayden

“After 20 years in the travel industry, it still wasn’t becoming any easier to leave the house for work in the morning. It was disheartening to know I would get home at 6.30pm and pick up my regular family chores – all the while dreaming of a travel career that would allow me to set my working hours around my family life,” said Martina Hayden.

I found this flexibility with Travel Counsellors, and in no time I was able to juggle my work and my family life with much greater ease. I have also let my clients know that they can rely on me for a flexible travel service – and many times it has been a real lifeline.

I recently had some valued clients in the Dominican Republic facing a two-day delay on their flight back home due to a cancellation. They were told they would be put up in a nearby hotel while they could reschedule a flight, but while in the queue my client texted me to see if there was anything I could do to get him home.

It was 11.00pm with the time difference, but it wasn’t a problem to log in and hold two seats on a flight the following day. I had his problem sorted before he woke the next day. All the other passengers had to wait another day, because they didn’t have their own personal travel agent working hard for them behind the scenes.

Having the flexibility to do this for my clients makes a massive difference for my business, which is built on the back of referrals and repeat clients.

If I ever need it, I know there is 24-hour support from our own company helpdesk team. It doesn’t matter if it’s a really tricky booking, or help with IT issues – they will help me sort it.

At Travel Counsellors, I have learned that there is always someone working around the clock!”
