InterContinental Madrid Popular with Irish Visitors

The InterContinental Madrid receives 3% of its business from Ireland, ITTN was told by Oliver Benalal, the hotel’s Director of International Sales, on a recent visit to the InterContinental Dublin in Ballsbridge (previously the Four Seasons until the New Year), where he co-hosted a reception for travel agents and media with Destination Madrid and the Spanish Tourism Office.

Oliver also brought a team of chefs with him from Madrid, headed by Miguel de la Fuente, to prepare a delicious tapas lunch, including paella.

The 5-star InterContinental Madrid, a landmark hotel on Paseo de la Castellana, was inspired by an 18th-century palace and is ideally located in the cultural and business district. The hotel is minutes from the Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Real Madrid Museum and the elegant Serrano shopping district.

Accommodation comprises 302 guest rooms, including 134 Superior rooms, 36 Executive rooms, 91 Club rooms, 17 Suites, seven Presidential Suites, and one Royal Suite, as well as the Club Lounge, which offers private check-in and late check-out, Internet access and business centre. Other facilities are two restaurants, El Cafe and the first-class El Jardin, the Bar 49, a fitness centre and spa, and 10 meeting rooms.
