Loganair to Replace Aer Arann on Donegal/Dublin

The Board and Management of Donegal Airport have welcomed the decision by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar TD, to award a three-year PSO contract to Loganair for the continuation of the Donegal/Dublin twice-daily flights. Aer Arann will continue providing the service until the start-up of the new contract on 5th November 2011 and Loganair will honour all bookings already made with Aer Arann on the route after that date.

While there will be a variation on some flight times the early morning departure from Donegal and the evening return from Dublin will remain.

“While we regret the end of a long and excellent relationship with Aer Arann as our main carrier over many years, we have also had Loganair operating here in the past and they are a well established professional airline,” said a spokesperson at Donegal Airport. “We have no doubt that they will deliver a good reliable service and we look forward to working with them to continue the service to/from Dublin.”

An additional benefit of the Loganair appointment is its proposal to operate a daily service to Glasgow, Scotland.  This service is currently operated three times per week by Aer Arann.
