Margaret Shannon to Depart Emirates

Emirates has today confirmed that Margaret Shannon, Country Manager for Ireland, will depart the company at the end of August. Margaret has headed up the Irish operation since before the launch of Emirates in Ireland in January 2012, overseeing major milestones including an early aircraft upgrade, which doubled capacity on the route, together with the recent announcement of a double daily flight between Dublin and Dubai from September 2014.

Thierry Aucoc, Emirates Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Europe & Russian Federation, said: “Margaret was instrumental in the early success of Emirates in Ireland and we are grateful to her for almost three years of strong leadership together with an unrivalled determination to establish and grow the airline in Ireland. We wish Margaret every success for the future.”

Margaret Shannon said: “I have had a wonderful few years working not only for one of the best airlines in the world, but for one of the best brands in the world and the decision to leave has not been taken lightly. However, I have reached a stage in my life where I really want to spend more time with family and take some time out for myself, so this is very much a lifestyle choice.  I have no immediate plans other than to enjoy a wonderful, month-long holiday with my husband in the autumn.

“In the meantime, we have a really busy summer ahead gearing up for Emirates’ sponsorship of the Irish Open and getting ready for the launch of the double daily service from 1st September, which will see up to 22,000 passenger connections, each month, between Dublin and Dubai.

“I would like to pay tribute to the great team in Dublin with whom I have had the honour of working for almost three years.”

Emirates is located on Hume Street, Dublin 2 and is the only airline connecting customers between Dublin and Dubai direct.

The role of Emirates Country Manager for Ireland will be advertised over the coming weeks.
