Menorca – Family-Friendly Holidays

Menorca – Family-Friendly Holidays

One of the most popular family holiday destinations, Menorca, with its spectacular coastline comprising long sandy stretches of beach, picturesque bays and hidden little coves overshadowed by dramatic cliffs and diverse landscape, has a very individual character and atmosphere. There is something about Menorca that is hard to explain – it has to be experienced.

Menorca enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate and is known for its beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches – and has over 40 of them, the majority having good snack bars and restaurants for refreshing drinks and tasty lunches. Menorca is also a UNESCO-designated biosphere, ensuring that its wonderful environment and countryside is protected.

There is plenty to keep families occupied off the beaches too, with a host of leisure activities to enjoy. Water sports are plentiful as are golf clubs, tennis courts and fishing trips. Surfcasting and rock fishing are particularly popular. With much of the countryside being flat, cycling and walking trails are very common with many bicycle hire outlets to get kitted out.

Menorca offers magnificent architecture and stunning, quaint harbours. An excursion to the island’s capital, Mahon, makes for a great day out to explore its harbour, shops, bars and restaurants. Nightlife is, for the most part, laid-back in comparison to the other Balearic Islands, with restaurants, cafes, bars and marinas being the hubs of activity rather than nightclubs.

Menorca is a great holiday choice for families, as well as couples who want to kick back and soak up the sun in a picturesque relaxing setting. Menorca has it all and more.

Repro Free: Thursday 21st July, Dublin Airport:
Aer Lingus welcomed a piece of Irish aviation history into its hangar at Dublin airport today as it received a Douglas DC-3 aircraft hailing from the 1940s and 50s and freshly painted in the Aer Lingus livery of that era. The DC-3 was the fifth aircraft type to be operated by Aer Lingus in 1940 and at that time was part of a fleet of just 5, while today’s fleet now stands at 63 aircraft operating more than 100 routes to UK, Europe and North America. The DC-3 aircraft will feature in Bray Air Display and Foynes Air Show this weekend.
