New Visitor Attractions in Salou

Salou is internationally renowned for being a unique Mediterranean destination: a popular spot for sun and beach, with accommodation to fit all pocketbooks… and the icing on the cake is a spectacular theme park: PortAventura. Salou is constantly adding new fun activities and services. Destination Salou is being strengthened – both by public and private initiative – and reinvented by its new proposals that meld gastronomy and culture. Rafael López-Monné

Since last summer, visitors have been able to find more modern and exclusively designed beach stalls on all the municipality’s beaches. This is a total change of image for Salou beaches to adapt to new and changing times. The beach stalls will all provide restaurant service and, what is more, will now be open until one in the morning, so that you can enjoy lively long evenings on the beach. The awnings and beach chairs were also totally renewed last season. Visitors will love their new functional and attractive designs, to reap even greater enjoyment from their stay in Salou.

With respect to PortAventura, an amazing funfair right in Salou, the park has continued to add new rides and attractions year after year. In the past couple of years, some really good ones have started running: Shambhala, the highest roller coaster in Europe, was launched in 2012; in 2013 at the adjoining Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, the highest freefall in Europe was opened, a scary 31 metres high with a slope of 55 degrees; and this year it’s Angkor’s turn, a boat ride in the China Area, which sets another record: the longest circuit in Europe. The goal of this water ride for the whole family is to shoot the obstacles that appear suddenly in front of your boat along the ride with water cannons.

In addition, the world’s most famous circus, Cirque du Soleil, is coming to PortAventura with its show Kooza, an adventure filled with excitement and breathtaking acrobatics, recreating a true fantasy kingdom. The show will welcome over 2,400 viewers each day.

There is so much to do and see in Salou. Visitors have a wide range of possibilities at their fingertips, with options for all interests and preferences. Coming to Salou is discovering a wide world of possibilities much bigger than just sun and beach.
