SAS Moves to LHR T2

Following the opening of the new Star Alliance Terminal 2 at London Heathrow on 4th June, SAS began operating from the terminal on 10th September. The new facility, now known as Terminal 2, The Queen’s Terminal, will see all 23 Star Alliance airlines that operate at London Heathrow move in over the next few months. SAS at LHR T2

To mark SAS being one of the original airlines at T2 in 1955 and to celebrate the airline’s first day at the new terminal, passengers on the first SAS flight to depart the new terminal at 06.40 flew onboard a retro-painted A319 aircraft to Copenhagen.

Alan Sparling of Airline Sales & Marketing, GSA for SAS in Ireland, said: “SAS are very excited about moving into this light and spacious building, which has been built to improve our customers’ travel experience. Say goodbye to long queues and enjoy faster check-in, faster security, more lounges, free wi-fi, better shops and restaurants, and, most importantly, enjoy shorter connections from Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Shannon.”

Having all 23 Star Alliance members in the same terminal will also make travel through Heathrow much easier for transfer passengers and there will now be a standardised minimum connection time of just 60 minutes.
