Silversea Introduces £350 Air Offer for Silver Discoverer Expedition Cruises

Silversea has introduced a £350 round-trip economy air add-on from a selection of UK gateways. The special air offer is available on six Silver Discoverer voyages sailing in October, November and December 2016 to Asia and the Indian Ocean.

Onboard the small-sized, all-suite Silver Discoverer, guests will be able to explore some of the world’s most remote and remarkable regions while enjoying an enriching onboard programme of destination lectures, photographic presentations, and daily briefings. Zodiac excursions and interactive walks ashore will be led by experts in their field, including marine biologists, ornithologists, geologists, botanists, historians, and anthropologists.

Guests are able to enjoy the personalised service and all-inclusive amenities that are the signature of every Silversea voyage, with gourmet dining; select wines, premium spirits and soft beverages; butler service for all suites; a comprehensive free wi-fi package, and many other included amenities.

“These new £350 air add-ons offer extraordinary value for travellers looking to book passage to dream destinations located in some of the most remote corners of Asia Pacific,” said Lisa McAuley, Silversea’s Commercial Director UK and Ireland.

Silver Discoverer expedition cruises featuring the air add-on offer:

Australia (Great Barrier Reef) & Indonesia

Voyage 9622: Cairns to Balikpapan, 14 Days, 4th – 18th October

This cultural and wildlife journey offers the chance to witness amazing Aboriginal rock art, explore the tribal heritage of Tana Toraja during an overnight land tour, and dive or snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, home to more than 1,500 species of fish, 400 colourful corals, and hundreds of species of marine birds.

Indonesia

Voyage 9623: Balikpapan to Singapore, 11 Days, 18th – 29th October

Highlights include Dr Biruté Mary Galdikas as a guest lecturer. Famous for her work with the orangutans of Indonesian Borneo in their natural habitat, she will lead a private tour to Camp Leakey and the Orangutan Care Centre, where guests can experience close-up encounters with these amazing animals.

Indonesia & Myanmar

Voyage 9624: Singapore to Phuket, 11 Days, 10th – 21st November

This voyage to Sumatra and the Mergui Archipelago will cruise the Andaman Sea, entering a part of the world that has rarely been explored. Sea gypsies, people who live off, and on, the sea, may be spotted. Other high points include visiting a hilltop Buddhist monastery and viewing orangutans on a forest walk.

Andaman Islands & Myanmar

Voyage 9625: Phuket to Phuket, 11 Days, 21st November – 2nd December

From the dense forests of Mount Harriet National Park to the pristine beaches of Henry Lawrence Island, the Andaman Islands are a paradise for nature lovers, perfectly complemented by the rich cultural heritage to be discovered in Yangon, where one can witness such impressive sights as the giant reclining Buddha.

Myanmar, Andaman Islands & Sri Lanka

Voyage 9626: Phuket to Maldives, 15 Days, 2nd – 17th December

This intriguing itinerary weaves together the enchanting parks, temples, and pagodas of Myanmar, the natural wonders of the Andaman Islands, and the historical and wildlife treasures of Sri Lanka, which include a wildlife sanctuary featuring one of the highest densities of leopards in the world.

Maldives, Seychelles (Aldabra) & Africa

Voyage 9627: Maldives to Dar es Salaam, 17 Days, 17th December – 3rd January

A high point of this itinerary is a rare visit to the remote coral atoll of Aldabra. Virtually untouched by humans and teeming with marine life, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the world’s largest atolls, and a pristine home to thousands of giant tortoises.

The £350 air add-on offer is valid on new cruise bookings for the featured sailings made on or after 21st April 2016. It is a capacity-controlled programme, with airline and routing at the discretion of Silversea. The programme may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

Repro Free: Thursday 21st July, Dublin Airport:
Aer Lingus welcomed a piece of Irish aviation history into its hangar at Dublin airport today as it received a Douglas DC-3 aircraft hailing from the 1940s and 50s and freshly painted in the Aer Lingus livery of that era. The DC-3 was the fifth aircraft type to be operated by Aer Lingus in 1940 and at that time was part of a fleet of just 5, while today’s fleet now stands at 63 aircraft operating more than 100 routes to UK, Europe and North America. The DC-3 aircraft will feature in Bray Air Display and Foynes Air Show this weekend.
