South Africa Postpones New Immigration Regulations for Families

Several new regulations of the South African Immigration Amendment Act, that will have an impact on families travelling with children under the age of 18, will now  be applied from 1st September 2014 instead of 1st July.INGBUNFS0105

A child under the age of 18, whether arriving, departing or transiting South Africa, will be required to travel with an unabridged birth certificate in addition to a passport. Where only one parent is travelling with the child, an affidavit giving the other parent’s consent for travel will be required, or a court order proving full parental responsibility or a death certificate of the other parent. Likewise, parental affidavits will be required for children travelling without their parents.
 
The regulations are already effective and will now be implemented from 1st September, following  demands for a postponement.

Also under the new regulations, guests requiring visas to travel to South Africa will need to apply for the visa in person, in preparation for the introduction of biometric visas. As yet the implementation of this regulation is still planned for 1st July.
