Sunway Celebrates 50th Anniversary Onboard Celebrity Silhouette

IMG_1424It was a great idea for Sunway to celebrate 50 years in business on board luxury cruise ship Celebrity Silhouette with their trade supporters in Dublin Port.The business was established in Blackrock in 1956,and is very much a family operation and is fully Irish  owned.

Tanya Airey, Managing Director, Sunway, greeted the guests with a warm welcome speech, noting: “It is with great pride that we can celebrate our 50th year in business as Ireland’s largest 100% Irish-owned tour operator. From our beginnings in 1966 as a family-owned travel agency specialising in corporate and leisure travel to this present day, Sunway has become a multi-award-winning leader in tourism selling holidays to over 70 destinations worldwide.

“We would like to thank all of the travel agents and travel media throughout Ireland for the continued support we have received throughout the past 50 years and look forward to the next 50 years as we continue to provide our loyal customers with exceptional holidays at competitive prices.

“Sunway will operate a programme to Morocco, commencing for Christmas 2016.”

The guests were then spoiled for choice when taken on a culinary adventure in the Tuscan Grille, an Italian steakhouse with a nouveau twist, where they enjoyed the flavourful joys of a four-course menu with a selection from each of the restaurants onboard. Following lunch, Sunway were delighted to invite their guests to the Sky Observation Lounge, which had views gazing out over Dublin City.

After some delicious birthday cake and some chilled wine, Sunway’s guests enjoyed the afternoon being entertained and dancing to music from one of Celebrity’s resident jazz bands. The afternoon onboard ended with guided tours of this spectacular ship with highlights such as the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, Lawn Club Grill, Qsine Restaurant, The Alcoves, Murano Restaurant, and, of course, the shopping onboard with luxurious new Bulgari and Michael Kors boutiques.
