SWISS To Resume Cork-Zurich Service from July 5th

Management and staff at Cork Airport have welcomed the news that SWISS will recommence its Cork-Zurich service from Sunday, July 5th next. The service will recommence as a once a week service initially, arriving into Cork at 0845 and departing from Cork at 0935.

Niall MacCarthy Managing Director at Cork Airport said “We are thrilled to see SWISS take off again from Cork Airport this summer. It is a testament to Swiss International Air Lines confidence in the Cork-Zurich route and the market we have nurtured. We are confident that SWISS will help our efforts to reboot tourism across the south of Ireland and add to Cork Airport’s track record of bringing significant numbers of holiday and business visitors to the South of Ireland region.’’

SWISS will be gradually expanding its route network over the coming weeks and months. Following the easing of travel restrictions across Europe, around one-third of their normal flight volume and 85% of all destinations served before the Coronavirus crisis on the SWISS network should be offered this autumn.

As the airline of Switzerland, SWISS is committed to offering the widest possible range of services during this ramp-up phase. The initial focus will be on onward connections to various European destinations from Zurich and Geneva. These include major European cities such as Amsterdam (Netherlands), Brussels (Belgium), London (UK), Madrid (Spain), Milan (Italy), Paris (France), Rome (Italy), Stockholm (Sweden), Warsaw (Poland), Vienna (Austria) and tourist destinations including Bilbao (Spain), Brindisi (Italy), Malta (Malta), Porto (Portugal), Palermo (Italy), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Sylt (Germany), Valencia (Spain) and Venice (Italy).

Further destinations are also being added to their intercontinental route network. Changes and additions to the flight schedule will be published in their booking system as soon as possible as flight schedules gradually ramp up after the public health crisis across the globe grounded flights.

In line with Irish Government guidelines, Cork Airport and SWISS require customers to wear a face mask or face covering throughout their entire journey from arrival at Cork Airport, during the flight to exiting the terminal building at their destination. Passengers are advised to bring enough masks for the duration of their journey. Face masks are also available to purchase from vending machines at Cork Airport.

This is in addition to a range of health & safety measures implemented by Cork Airport in response to the COVID-19 health crisis, which includes the adherence to social and physical distancing throughout the terminal and the installation of Plexiglas protection screens at customer service desks such as Check-In, Security and Boarding Gates as well as sanitization procedures to the highest standards.

Cork Airport reassures passengers that their health and safety and that of staff is an absolute priority. Everyone at Cork Airport is fully mobilized to ensure the highest levels of health and safety for customers and to ensure they travel in confidence.
