Dubai-based shipbuilding company Drydocks and Maritime World has signed an MoU with Swiss company BIG InvestConsult appointing Drydocks World as the exclusive main contractor for construction of a new concept of floating and underwater hotels in the Middle East.
BIG InvestConsult is representing Deep Ocean Technology, the Polish owner behind the unique technology and concept of Water Discus Hotel that envisages a discus-shaped leisure facility that is partly above water and the rest 10 metres below the surface with 21 bedrooms, a dive centre and bar. Miniature underwater vehicles operated from inside will allow guests to explore sealife close up. The company holds special exclusivity rights for the customers and facilities located in the Gulf Co-operation Council countries.
Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, said: “This project has seven different types of designs ranging from $US50 million to $US120 million each.”
“The Water Discus Hotel project opens many new fields of development for the hotel and tourism sector, and the housing and city sector in coastal offshore areas, as well as new opportunities for ecology support by the creation of new underwater ecosystems and activities on underwater world protection,” said Bogdan Gutkowski, President of BIG InvestConsult.
