Costa del Sol Golf Day at Powerscourt

The scenic course at Powerscourt, in the garden of Ireland, Co Wicklow, was the venue for this year’s ‘Sol Cup’ sponsored by Costa del Sol Tourism – although the weather was not synonymous with the sunny greens of the Costa del Sol!

There were a few ‘fair weather golfers’ who failed to make the first tee box, but those who played had a great day of golf and thereafter enjoyed the hospitality of the Costa del Sol hosts at the 18th.

At the presentation of prizes, Lynn Mitchell, Costa del Sol Tourism, said that it has become known as the Costa del Golf to many Irish golfers and that next year it is hoped to play this event in Malaga.

After a closely fought competition the runners-up were the team of Philip Airey, Clem Walshe and Lorraine Cunningham with a score of 65 points.

However it was the team of Michael Doorley, John Spollen and Dermot Synnott, Destination Golf Travel, who were the overall winners with a score of 78 points.
