Mary McGrath Wins 7-Night Thomson Holiday

Hosting the Thomson Winter Collection trade evening in Lafayette Café Bar were Carol Anne O’Neill, Christine Donnelly and Edel Nicholson

Mary McGrath from Falcon Travel Shop Kilkenny was the winner of the top prize of a seven-night all-inclusive holiday with Thomson at the trade evening in the Lafayette Café Bar in Dublin last night. The runner-up prize of luggage, filled with travel goodies, was won by Ciara Masterson of Skytours.

Celebrating Thomson’s first anniversary in Ireland, and the launch of the Thomson Winter Collection brochure for November 2011 to April 2012, Christine Donnelly said: “There was a lot of learning in our first year as to what the Irish public wanted and valued in the Thomson programme, which we introduced to complement the well-established Falcon programme and to specifically target an adult market, offering not just 4-star and 5-star hotels but also an experience.

“Our new Winter Collection includes the backbone of what made the 2011 programme work – and we have added seven Couples hotels and 10 Platinum hotels. Indeed, the Thomson product now includes five strands: the 5-star Sensatori collection featuring Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt and, in the summer, Crete; Couples exclusively for adults; Platinum hotels offering high quality at an affordable price; the new Gold hotels with first-class cuisine, top entertainment and unbeatable service; and also a collection of 3-star hotels ideal for families.

“Times are tough, it is true, and perhaps even tougher in the travel industry, but Thomson is here for the long haul and we have built a strong reputation with successful holidays and repeat clients. Indeed, when we first introduced the new brochure two weeks ago we had a higher level of pre-registrations than Falcon.

“For the trade we have run three educationals this year – to Palma, Egypt and, at year-end, Turkey, and there will be opportunities for one-to-one training in October and November.”
