Joe Balfe Leaving The Travel Department

Joe Balfe, Managing Director of The Travel Department, is leaving the company after six years at the helm. Joe, who is also a shareholder of The Travel Department, has decided to leave to pursue some personal goals and new opportunities, but will continue to work with Bob Haugh, Chairman, on joint projects and retain his interest in sister company ClickandGo.com.

Joe said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at TTD and it was great to have played a key part in a great Irish success story.  As The Travel Department has a clear strategy for international growth, I feel it is time for me to pursue other interests and ambitions. We recently made two appointments to the board and I am certain I have left the business in very capable hands.”

Bob added: “It was an honour and a privilege to have worked alongside Joe for the past six years. He was instrumental to the growth of The Travel Department at home and abroad and has put us in a very strong position to continue on this growth trajectory. I would consider Joe a close personal friend and we will most certainly keep in touch with him outside of business.”
